Last November, a group of Canadian triathletes including two-time Olympic medallist Simon Whitfield, Under-23 National Champion Andrew McCartney and Olympian Lauren Groves took a trip down to Portland, Oregon for a seven-day training camp with American running legend Alberto Salazar. Here’s what they learned, and how you can apply it to your 10K training.

British Olympic team gives Vancouver charity all their equipment.

VANCOUVER - A Vancouver group that organizes sports programs for disadvantaged inner-city children has been given all of the equipment the British Olympic team bought and used during the Vancouver Winter Games.

Everything from flat-screen televisions to bar fridges to irons and chairs have been donated to Moresports, a not-for-profit group that puts on after-school sports and games.

It was written by Canadian head coach Mike Babcock with help from a friend from their Saskatoon days, Rick Larsen. He runs the Chicago advertising firm Leo Burnett.

The lesson is clear. London's Olympic chiefs must immediately go out and buy themselves a podium, put a 'Property of Team GB' sticker on it and surround it with barbed wire.
